Godfall – Stephen O’Reilly
The sky ruptured and God fell out of heaven onto a derelict piece of land near the city centre.
A homeless man saw him plummet to earth and went over to investigate.
‘Another coup!’ cried God, crawling from a crater amongst the rubble and weeds. ‘A seraphic junta! And after me creating the heavens and the earth and sending my only son to live amongst you apes.’
‘Gobshite!’ said the man, kicking God in the buttocks, sending him sprawling on all fours into a clump of dandelions. ‘You should have come here yourself. This is no place for children.’
